Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences
The Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences established in 1961 is one of the well known medical colleges of Telangana. Initially it was known as Nizam’s Orthopaedic Hospital. Today, it has campuses in Punjagutta and Bibinagar. One of the most well known medical colleges of Telangana is Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), was established in 1961. Formerly known as Nizam’s Orthopaedic Hospital, it has campuses in Punjagutta and Bibinagar. With the objective of further developing the educational and research facilities the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature passed a bill making NIMS a university on 18 June 1989.

Admission and Eligibility Criteria in NIMS
Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) offers Degree and Diploma courses at various Undergraduate (UG), Post graduate (PG) and Doctoral level, in the field of Medicine & Health Sciences and Nursing.
Undergraduate Courses
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
Candidates seeking admission in the UG Programmes need to complete their 10 2 with a minimum of 50% marks in the relevant subjects, from a recognized board.
The candidates seeking admission in the PG Programmes need to complete their graduation with a minimum of 50% marks in the relevant subjects, from a recognized university.
Admission Process
Admission to all the courses are through an Entrance Examination NIMSET, conducted by the institute itself. The candidature is taken forward strictly on the basis of the merit scored in the entrance examination.
It is mandatory for the candidates to appear for the examination, failing which, their candidature is subjected to cancellation.
Application Process
Candidates can submit NIMS application form through online mode only, for admissions.
Aspirants can pay the application fee by Credit Card/Debit Card/Net banking/E-Challan. In case of E-Challan the application fee can be paid in any branch of Indian Bank.
MCh in Cardiothoracic Surgery
Duration: 3 years
No. of seats: 6
Eligibility: Candidates who have passed MS/DNB in General Surgery examination from Medical Colleges recognized by MCI and have completed training period are eligible.
Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)
Duration: 4 years 6 months internship
No. of seats: 50
Eligibility: Intermediate examination or its equivalent with optional subjects of Botany, Zoology, Physics and Chemistry. Candidates within the age of 17-25 years are eligible to apply.
OR
Candidates with Vocational Physiotherapy and a bridge course of biological and physical sciences and having qualified EAMCET can apply.
BSc (Nursing)
Duration: 4 years
No. of seats: 100
Eligibility: Candidates who have Passed 10 2 with Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry and English or vocational nursing with Bridge course of Biological and Physical Sciences or equivalent within the the 17-25 years are eligible to apply.
Master in Hospital Management
Duration: 2 years (6 months internship)
No. of seats: 20
Eligibility: Any graduate in Medical/Non Medical courses and those within 17-25 years can apply.
PhD in NIMS
NIMS offer various courses and invites application for Ph. D courses every year. NIMS University offers Ph. D courses under regular mode only. Students are selected on the basis of the merit in an entrance examination which is administered by the University “NIMS University M. Phil./ Ph. D Admission Test (NIMS MPAT).
The candidates, who have already passed NET/JRF/GATE/SLET/ are exempted from the entrance exam. The University does not provide distance education courses under M. Phil./Ph. D courses.
